Second Largest Sony LCD HDTV in Early 2008

9 June, 2008 (14:16) | MS2 LCD HDTV Sony | By: a.i. editor

Sony BRAVIA KDL-52XBR4 is a very good LCD HDTV. Its performance is only surpassed in one or two areas by models from competing brands. The good thing about Sony’s 52 inch giant is that it has excellent high-definition detail & superb color performance. Come on, it’s a Bravia Engine! Sony’s 120-Hz technology called Motionflow makes action scenes more realistic minus the blurs.

Does it matter that film movies look like video to you?

However, unless you are a motion film fanatic, you will think that the performance is worth the price. You may realize that Sony’s Motionflow, particularly with the Sony BRAVIA KDL-52XBR4, makes 24-frame-per-second film movies look like video. To most of us, we could not tell the difference between movies shot in film or video. So, really it may just be a grey; not so important area for the majority of consumers. Anyway, you can switch off the feature & watch movies in standard mode too.

Do you watch television from its side or front center?

Sony claims to provide 178 degree viewing angle but you may want to take a look at the TV set yourself to see it for real. Some folks who have actually used the Sony BRAVIA KDL-52XBR4 claim that the viewing angle is only good up to 45 degrees from the center. Also, you may want to use external home theater speaker system with the set. Once you have used excellent home theater speakers, most in built speaker systems, including the Sony BRAVIA KDL-52XBR4 will sound like inadequate.

Do you reckon that the BRAVIA KDL-52XBR4 is worth the <>$3,600 price tag?

Sony is famous for its high priced HDTV offerings. Sony must think that it is offering consumers HDTV products that are worth every cent that they are paying. Sony’s LCD HDTV offering totals a strong 50 models including the new Sony BRAVIA KDL-52XBR4. The largest model from Sony is currently the 70 inch limited-availability, XBR5. The newest LCD HDTV from Sony is currently the second largest model in Sony’s line up. Don’t you think that the remote controller should look less like plastic?
